This past weekend David Siders taught a class called “Design Your Own Adult Halloween Mask.” A few customers came out to create a one of a kind mask. David had them choose a base mask and then gave them the choice of different feathers, jewels, buttons and sprays. Each mask is different and completely the customers own design! This past weekend, David Siders taught a complimentary demonstration to eager customers wanting to learn more on decorating for fall. The topic of this weekends demonstration was “Decorating with Cornstalks.” David spoke about how to put them up, where to put them and he described how here at the store, Experience and Creative Design, we have large cornstalks along the sidewalk in front of the store.
In the class, David taught customers how to create a fall votive arrangement. The “students” then made their very own arrangement with a pretty crackle and painted fall votive cup, birds nest, a bird and permanent flowers. Overall this past weekend was a hit and we are looking forward to next weeks demonstration of “Fun with Birch Twigs, Logs and Bark” and a class of designing your own “Bundled Birch Arrangement.” Be sure to stop by the store before next weekend to check out the arrangement that will be made in the class!

This past weekend kicked off our first weekend of demonstrations and classes here at Experience and Creative Designs. The complimentary demonstration was taught by David Siders and was all about permanent fall candle arrangements. First he showed a few of the candle arrangements that we have around the store. Then he showed the class how to set up a permanent fall centerpiece, using candles, for a table. This display will be set up in the store until this coming Sunday (9/23).
The class was a hit! Customers had a “hands on experience” creating a permanent fall door piece. They learned from David Siders how to make it piece by piece and at the end had a beautiful door piece they had made all themselves!

Hand tied bouquets are made literally in your hand. Instead of taking a styrofoam base and sticking the flowers into it, you hold the bouquet in your hand as you put it together and then bind it with either wire or tape. Ribbon is then wrapped around to hide the binding and to create a finished look.
There are two types of hand tied bouquets; compact and loose. A loose bouquet is made with the bind lower down on the stems. A compact bouquet has a slightly higher binding point which creates a tighter, more compact bouquet.
The charm in a hand tied bouquet is that it is created with its natural stem showing and ribbon wound around it to cover the binding. The ribbon area, allows for the bride to add her own personal touch, such as an heirloom brooch.
Start out with a focal flower, the flower that will be the main focal point. It may be brighter than the rest, larger or just a different type. Then keep adding the flowers a few at a time while turning the bouquet slightly to ensure an all around finished look. Bind it with the wire or tape, add the ribbon and any other accessories and you have a beautiful, hand tied bouquet!

This past Sunday, David Siders taught some lovely ladies all about wall groupings. Starting with a blank wall, he added artwork, wall shelves and wall art to create a grouping and rearranged them to give the ladies different ideas on how to group.
David Siders, Co-owner of Experience and Creative Design taught a class on the tips and tricks of making a fresh flower arrangement. The theme was Mother’s Day so mothers and daughters came to make the arrangement together, as well as to bring home to their mothers. David taught how to care for the flowers and how to make a beautiful fresh flower arrangement for mom!
